Dean Smith was delighted with 3 points win in front of his supporters in the 2-0 win over Newcastle and praised Danny Ings for a stunning goal.
Aston Villa earned their first win of the season with a 2-0 win over Newcastle. The new striker Danny Ings scoring a stunning first-half stoppage-time goal after a somersault over the net.
Smith said after the game: “Of course I’m happy in front of our own fans who have been waiting for a long time to come back on the pitch and playable forms. But the result is what we want.”
“We have to deal with playing behind the defense with their speed. But Danny Ings’ superb finish and the set-piece play we’ve trained in pre-season. That’s why we brought Ings to the team, while Anwar El Ghazi is a very good penalty taker.”
“Hopefully a better performance will come. But it’s important that with today’s victory.”
